A shocking Youtube video showing a bizarre bulge in a woman's buttock apparently caused by her botched silicone implant "flipped inside out" has gone viral.
The 20-second clip shows an unidentified woman slowly manipulating her implant back in place after it flipped inside out and left her cheek looking like a flat cone-shaped mound.
"This is my implant flipping backwards," the woman said in the 20-second video. "I don't think an implant is supposed to do that."
Attempts to establish whether the video is genuine have been difficult. The video did not give details about who the woman is, which clinic the woman went to or what procedure she had.
However, the video, which was featured on a post on WorldStarHipHop.com, came with an unverified quote stating the dangers of butt implants.
"This is the dangers of butt implants.. Ladies do not ever do silicone butt injections they are toxic to your body. Butt implants are not any better, too many risk, infection, displacement of the implant and they feel like rocks not to mention look very unnatural. Love the skin your in [sic] Here is what happens when implants go bad. This is my personal experience I almost died from this surgery and am having them removed this Thursday," the quote reads.
Butt implants are becoming increasingly popular with women in South America and in the U.S. However, after a recent surge in deaths relating to unauthorized black market operations, health experts have warned women against them.
Butt implants are usually inserted where the cheek meets the back of the thigh or in the crease where the scars are less noticeable. Certified surgeons then create a pocket big enough to stud the silicone implant whether under the gluteus maximus muscle or on top of it.
In some cases, fat is taken from another area of the body to enhance the shape of the buttocks and before stitching up the wounds, the surgeon will make sure both buttocks are symmetrical.
Doctors warn that if the implant pocket is too big, the silicone implant can slip out.
