¡Olé!

It’s officially National Tequila Day. Good news: you can still celebrate without racking up all of those annoying calories. Although there isn’t an exact history as to when this “holiday” was first created, on July 24 all across America, people are celebrating their honorary Mexican heritages. Before the clock hits five we wanted to share with you a few low-calorie tequila inspired drinks that you won’t regret the next day.

1. HG's Magical Low-Calorie Margarita

Ingredients:
1 (2-serving) packet sugar-free lemonade powdered drink mix (about 1 teaspoon)
6 ounces diet lemon-lime soda
1 1/2 ounces tequila
1 ounce lime juice
Crushed ice, as needed
Lime slice, for serving

Directions
Combine powdered drink mix, soda, tequila, and lime juice in a glass or shaker. Stir to dissolve the drink mix. Pour into a margarita glass with lots of crushed ice. Finish it off with a slice of lime on the rim of the glass, if using. Time to enjoy!

2. Agave Margarita

Ingredients:
1 lime wedge
Kosher salt
Ice
2 ounces silver tequila
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce light agave nectar

Directions:
Moisten half of the outer rim of a glass with the lime wedge (that way, you get salty on one side, but it doesn’t overpower the drink!) and twist the edge into a saucer full of kosher salt. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila, lime juice and agave nectar. Shake well and strain into the glass. Bottoms up

3. Bethenny Frankel's Skinnygirl Margarita

Ingredients:
2 oz of Clear Premium Tequila
Tiny splash of Orange Liquor
Juice of four Fresh Lime Wedges
A splash of Grand Marnier or BOLS Triple Sec

Directions:
Combine all ingredients over a glass of ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

4. Sweet & Low Local

Ingredients:
2 oz. Camarena Silver Tequila
½ of a lemon, quartered
8 mint leaves
1 tbsp. sugar-free sweetener
3 oz. soda water
Garnish: lemon wedge

Directions:
Muddle lemon, mint, and sweetener in a cocktail shaker. Add tequila and ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a tall glass. Top with soda water and stir gently. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

5. Skinny Wasaberita

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon wasabi powder
3/4 ounce lime juice
1 ounce light agave nectar, such as Wholesome Sweeteners
1 3/4 ounces Tequila blanco

Directions:
Salt rim of a margarita glass. In a shaker add all of the ingredients with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds and then strain over fresh ice into glass

6. Mexican Bikini

Ingredients:

½ oz. Tequila
½ oz. Vodka (We used Citron)
1 tsp. Agave nectar

Directions:

Add all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake for 10 seconds. Strain cocktail into a chilled martini glass.

7. Tequila Bramble

Ingredients:
5 blackberries
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
Crushed ice (see POPSUGAR Food's tip for an easy way to crush ice at home)
1/2 ounce agave nectar
1/2 ounce crème de mure (blackberry-flavored liqueur)
1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila

Directions:
In a rocks glass, muddle blackberries with lime juice.
Fill the glass with crushed ice; add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Serve with a straw.

8. Tequila Sunrise Remake

Ingredients:
2 oz. tequila
4 oz. light, low carb orange jucie
1/2 oz. light cranberry juice*
1/4 oz. cherry juice*

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in highball glass.

According to Forbes, tequila can aid in digestion, break down dietary fat, which can indeed help lower LDL levels, the bad cholesterol.
