While most fruits and vegetables have been known to have their health benefits, it is important to note that each of them have their own distinctive properties that indeed make them unique and beneficial to consume on a daily basis.

The pomegranate fruit is one of them, and while they are mostly consumed in the form of a juice, the benefits that one can derive from them are tremendous, and so here is a list of health benefits that one can obtain with pomegranates:

Benefit #1: Prostate, Breast and Lung Cancer

In separate studies, it was found that pomegranates were found to slow down prostate cancer in mice while in the case of breast cancer, a study in Israel has found that not only does pomegranate juice prevent the formation of breast cancer cells but also destroys breast cancer cells while leaving healthy cells alone. In the case of lung cancer, it was found that with mice, the development of lung cancer is inhibited by pomegranate juice.

Benefit #2: Keeps PSA Levels stable 

In a recent study, it was found that the PSA levels in 50 patients suffering from prostate cancer were stable due to drinking 8 ounces of pomegranate juice a day, and which reduced the requirement for chemotherapy or hormone therapy. 

Benefit #3: Prevention of Alzheimer’s disease

In a study involving mice which were fed pomegranate juice, it was found that the amyloid plaque levels were much lesser, and they were able to perform mental tasks much better than those mice that weren’t fed this fruit.

Benefit #4: Dental Protection 

According to recent studies, it has been found that drinking pomegranate juice can be an excellent way to reduce chances of obtaining dental plaque. 

Benefit #5: Lowers Cholesterol and Blood Pressure

Drinking pomegranate juice will raise HDL (good cholesterol) as well as lower LDL (bad cholesterol).
