Japan's biggest utility company underestimated the amount of radiation levels in sea water by around three times, said Japan's Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA).
Takuya Kobayashi, a researcher at the agency measured the amounts - measurements stated that 4,720 trillion becquerels of cesium-137 were released along with iodine-131 into the Pacific Ocean, but researchers say that between March 21 and April 30 around 15,000 trillion becquerels are supposed to have leaked.

Tepco (Toyko Electric Power Co.) meanwhile, edged closer to bringing the reactors cold shutdown to reality, which is expected to occur on January 2012. The reactors are to be placed inside of frames, covering them, and cutting off the rain which can cause radiation to leak out.
The earthquake and tsunami which devastated the coastline on March 11, knocked out reactor cooling systems and causing a massive meltdown at Fukushima, as well as devastating many families, villages and communities.
