Nikolai Kryaglyachenko has quickly become one of the most popular kids in his class. After experiencing a severe electric shock, the 12-year-old has developed almost superhero-like abilities. Like the X-Men supervillain Magneto, Nikolai can attract metal objects with his body, turning him into the human magnet.

On his way home from school, Nikolai stopped to lean on a lamp post and was thrown clear across the pavement after being electrocuted due to a faulty wire. The Russian boy dusted himself off and ran home to tell his mom about the near-fatal incident. During that first night of sleep following the incident, he awoke to find that coins had stuck to his body while he slept.

"When I came 'round, I felt groggy but managed to get home and told my mum what had happened,” Nikolai told the Daily Mail. "When I woke up the next day and got out of bed I found some coins that had been lying on the mattress had stuck to my body. Then, when I was having breakfast and dropped my spoon, it stuck to my chest." Nikolai is not the first person to claim he can attract metal objects with his body.

Two Serbian cousins, David Patrovic, 4, and Luka Lukic, 6, also showed off their ability to stick spoons and forks to their chest via magnetic abilities. While these cases may seem like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, NBC News claims they might as well be. Based on science, NBC maintains that there is no truth to these stories and that they can be chalked up to a child’s ability to stick objects to his body thanks to youthful smooth, hairless skin that makes for a sticky surface.
