Vladimir Putin has graced our computer and television screens with his fitness stunts, bare-chested horseback riding, and shooting tigers to “save” TV crews. Thanks to his push to publicize his image as a strong-willed Russian leader, the world has experienced a rainbow of Putin antics — from manning a hang glider to lead endangered Siberian cranes through their winter flight, to releasing caged leopards into the wild.

Now, a strange new video from Russia Today provides us with a rare glimpse into the Russian president’s daily workout routine, flanked by his friend and fellow leader Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s Prime Minister. Referring to the pair as the “dynamic duo,” Russia Today (which tends to provide us with Putin’s publicity more so than the reality of foreign affairs) notes that the Russian president and his sidekick were in Sochi on Sunday for a workout, barbeque, and tea session.

The video shows the two leaders pumping iron, then later grilling their own steak and sitting down for an intimate dinner with tea. “[T]he politicians rewarded themselves with a barbeque, which they prepared without any help,” Russia Today reported.

Putin is known for his rigid exercise routine — which includes intense swimming sessions in freezing Siberian rivers, horseback riding, and martial arts.

“How does one control weight? By not overeating,” Putin told ABC News. “How does one stay in shape? One plays sports. There are no magic pills here.”

He noted that he exercises every day. "I spend a little time every day to play sports," he told ABC. "Last night, I was skiing here until 1:30 in the morning. I hit the gym this morning. I swim almost every day, a thousand meters. You know there’s a Russian saying: 'Grain by grain, and a hen fills her belly.'"
