Jalene Salinas, 4, has been fighting terminal brain cancer with a smile and strong spirit — but doctors recently told her she only has a few weeks left.

Jalene's family and friends, who have gathered a community of thousands of supporters for her through social media, helped the young warrior create a bucket wish list to complete during her final weeks. It included making a snowman, driving a toy car, seeing Disneyland, seeing sand, and lastly dancing to “Shake It Off” with Taylor Swift.

At a certain point, everything was crossed off her wish list — except for meeting the 25-year-old blonde pop star, something that seemed rather unattainable. But Jalene’s family launched a social media campaign to help make her dream come true, creating a video that they hoped would reach Swift. It did — and TaySwift called Jalene via FaceTime on Monday, and chatted with her for 20 minutes despite the fact that the young cancer patient was having a rough night and feeling ill.

“I’m so sorry you’re having a bad night. I’m so happy to talk to you, though, and I’m so happy you like ‘Shake It Off,’” Swift said during their FaceTime, according to KENS5. “You look beautiful tonight. You really do. You’re just as pretty as your pictures.”

Swift spoke for a while with Jalene’s mother, Jennifer Arriagas, who told her that Swift’s effort meant the world to Jalene. Swift responded: “Everyone in the car with me is crying right now.”

This isn’t the first time a pop star has reached out to a terminally ill child in the hopes of bringing them some light and love. In 2013, Katy Perry recorded a video for Olivia Wise, a cancer patient who recorded the pop star’s “Roar.”
