Valerie Sagun, 28, has no time for her haters. She rocks a size 20 like it’s nobody’s business and can perform a flawless downward facing dog. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the Internet, Sagun’s scantily clad Instagram posts receive a lot of unwanted criticism from people with nothing better to do. However, for every negative comment this plus-size yoga guru gets, she receives countless more saying how much her positive outlook has rubbed off on them.

“By being a curvy woman of color, I get to show a lot of underrepresented people that they are capable of anything,” Sagun told BuzzFeed Life. “Everyone who is interested in yoga should feel comfortable practicing it.”

Sagun’s Instagram account, Big Gal Yoga, has already garnered over 100,000 followers since launching it a year and a half ago. She started yoga around four years ago with one thing in mind: showing everyone that being plus-size shouldn’t prevent anyone from getting involved in a fitness-related activity. She even hopes to teach other people the wonders of yoga by becoming a certified instructor. You can help her achieve this goal by donating to her education here.

“I’ve never really felt self-conscious about my body during yoga classes,” Sagun added. “For me, yoga is all about the mind and positive thinking. I get anxiety and depression, and practicing has helped me through that.”
