Apple Cider Vinegar For Skin: Uses And Health Benefits

Apple cider vinegar claims to give a radiant, clear skin. It has become indispensable in one’s beauty care routine, to which skincare experts also agree in the wonders that the fermented liquid can do.

Michelle Ranavat, founder of Ranavat Botanics, said that ACV has been used in Ayurveda to cure a variety of ailments and is especially loved for restoring the gut along with some incredible benefits to the skin, and they are as follows:

Facial Routine

According to Ravanat, ACV balances the oil and pH of the skin without peeling it or breaking down its natural barrier.

She suggested to use ACV as a toner, then follow with a hydrating mask and illuminating serum.

“This treatment is a great way to keep your skin balanced, and the botanicals in this serum will work with the ACV to reduce hyperpigmentation and give your skin an even, glowing complexion," Ravanat explained.

Treats Acne

Valerie Grandury, founder of Odacité recommends to use ACV for overnight spot treatment. A little amount of ACV mixed with a powder mask containing probiotics, activated charcoal and fruit exfoliants help fight acne-causing bacteria.

It also helps lessen the appearance of pimples and scars, Grandury said.

Balances the Skin

Using multiple cleansers over time can disrupt the skin’s natural defenses, Sophia Roe, a natural-beauty expert, holistic chef, and member of The Vitamin Shoppe Wellness Council, said.

Diluting ACV with water with one-to-three ratio and using it as a toner is a great way to restore the skin’s natural barriers, Roe added.

Also, ACV contains acetic, lactic, citric, and malic acids that help prevents pore-clogging and darkening of dead skin cells.

Alleviates Sunburns

ACV aids in soothing sunburns besides your usual coconut oil and aloe. It has anti-inflammatory properties that relieves pain when you get too suntanned.

Stimulates Circulation

Drinking ACV mixed in a glass of water every morning has been known to promote circulation, purify the blood and help refresh the liver, according to Jessica Rosen, certified holistic health coach and co-founder of Raw Generation.

"Raw apple cider vinegar has been used throughout the centuries for its cleansing properties,” she said.

Removes Dandruff

Joshua Zeichner, MD, director of cosmetic and clinical research in Mount Sinai Hospital, said that ACV has antimicrobial properties that can help reduce dandruff causing yeast on the scalp.

Therefore, applying ACV on the scalp to get rid of dandruff is effective.
