Best Time To Eat Carbs For Weight Loss

There is a high chance that you consider carbs as something that should be consume only in limited amounts. But it is actually an essential part of every diet. In fact, there have been a number of research claiming that it’s not about the amount of carbs you consume, but the time when you consume them.

Carbs are considered a source of fuel by the body. They can be categorized into simple and complex carbs. Understanding the difference between the two will help you identify what type of diet will work best for your body.

Simple carbs focus on one or two sugar molecules. These include honey, fruit juice, sugar and milk. On the other hand, complex carbs pertain to those having three or more sugar molecules. These include oats, quinoa, brown rice and sweet potatoes.

If you want to have a better source of fuel, it is best that you consume simple carbs. And even though they are described as healthy carbs, you should still eat them in moderation.

So to answer the question of whether or not there is a perfect time to consume carbs for the purpose of weight loss, there is. The only problem is that it seems that studies have inconsistent findings regarding the answer.

One of the studies conducted surrounding this concept claimed that carbs should be eaten only at dinner. The researchers of this study grouped their subjects into two categories: those who ate carbs at dinner and those that ate carbs at every meal. The study’s findings showed that those who belong to the dinner-only group lost more weight.

Findings of another study involving 58 obese men who followed a low-calorie diet appeared to have lost fat regardless of whether they consumed carbs during lunch or dinner.

One of the more recent studies focused on our body’s ability to burn carbs in the morning versus that in the evening. It showed that consuming carbs earlier in the day is much more ideal for fat burning.

It is without a doubt that there have been a number of studies showing different results regarding the matter. Some would claim that consuming carbs later in the day is much more beneficial. Given the disparity in the findings of the studies, more research still needs to be conducted to figure out which time of the day is the most ideal for the consumption of carbs.
