Cutting Diet For Weight Loss: Does It Work?

Bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts commonly follow the cutting diet to get lean. This approach helps people get rid of fat while keeping muscle mass through restricted calorie intake and weightlifting.

The cutting diet can be followed by anyone. It is a flexible weight loss plan that can be adjusted based on your nutritional needs.

To begin this diet, you have to determine the amount of calories you need to lose. Reducing your calorie intake promotes fat loss.

However, experts recommend that you count the calories you should eat per day based on your weight, height, gender, exercise levels and lifestyle. For example, an average man should consume at least 2,500 calories per day and it should be down to 2,000 to lose weight.

For women who need 2,000 calories per day, reducing the amount to 1,500 daily would help cut 1 pound of fat per week, according to Healthline. Losing 0.5 to 1 percent of your body weight per week is the best and healthy progress when on a cutting diet.

The diet commonly takes two to four months. It will depend on your body composition.

But losing things is not the only part of the cutting diet. You also need to consume more protein, which could help maintain or build muscle mass.

Studies suggest that having good amounts of protein in the body could preserve lean muscle mass while reducing appetite.

Carbs also play an important role on cutting diet. The body uses carbs to generate energy and prevent muscle loss.

Keeping Some Fat

Despite the goal of losing fats, the people on a cutting diet should not completely stop their fat intake. It supports the production of hormones such as testosterone and IGF-1, which are known for preserving muscles.

At least 15 to 30 percent of the calories you consume each day should come from fat.

How to Improve Your Cutting Diet

To see faster results and have a healthy weight loss, you can combine weightlifting with some food. Eating fiber-rich foods and including non-starchy vegetables in the diet will give you essential nutrients that can make you feel full.

Drinking water and staying hydrated should also support fat loss. Water helps speed up metabolism and manage appetite at the same time.
