Eating obviously has the biggest say in our health. Whether we will be fit and nourished enough depends on what we decide to eat. As such, eating oily food increases our risk of developing diseases, while eating a steady diet of fruits and vegetables guarantees good health.

Of course, age plays an important part in our health too. This is why some food you can eat in your younger years is no longer recommended when you reach a certain age. Men, for example, need to watch out for a lot of foods that can increase their risk of Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure when they reach the golden age of 50.

But what exactly are these foods? Here’s a handy list for you:

Fried Foods

This should go without saying because oily foods are associated with high cholesterol and heart failure. The oil in them is also usually unhealthy therefore increasing your risk of developing high blood pressure. For an alternative, try roasting or grilling your food instead of frying them since it’s a healthier option that can even be applied on vegetables.

Processed Meats

This includes bacons, sausages and luncheon meat. What’s even worse, is that they are usually served as fried food, on top of already being loaded with artery-clogging saturated fat. As such, these types of food can also elevate cholesterol levels. But if you still want to eat them every now and then, we suggest eating smaller portions or opt for leaner versions, such as turkey bacon and low-fat varieties.

Protein Bars

The truth is that a lot of these products are mostly just candy bars that are filled with sugar and calories, and you’re better off getting actual protein from actual healthy food like fish, fruits and vegetables.

Rib-Eye Steaks

We know it’s hard to turn down a well-cooked steak. Unfortunately, rib-eye steaks are also one of the fattiest meals on the planet. As such, switch to leaner cuts if you still want to eat steak, such as a New York strip steak, or even a top round.
