Pizza is often categorized by most people under the same category as that of burgers, fries and other fast food. However, there are certain things that pizza has over these truly unhealthy foods.

Those that are served in fast food chains are extremely processed. These have been made in factories from who knows where, stocked in storage areas for who knows how long and shipped to the stores. With your local pizza, you can rest assured that they make their own dough and sauce. Moreover, the toppings used are fresh vegetables and even real cheese.

Tomatoes are a great source for lycopene, which is a very powerful antioxidant that has the ability to lower your risk of acquiring cancer. In addition, any kind of consumption of lycopene is beneficial to the heart, bones, skin and blood vessels. Tomatoes can be used as a sauce for the pizza or these are topped on the pizza as it is.

2. Vegetables

Vegetable toppings also contain numerous nutrients and fiber. Eating pizza actually increases your vegetable intake. Bell peppers contain very high levels of antioxidants.
