As predicted, the massive solar storm that erupted on Monday night has triggered an amazing view of the Northern lights.

Photographer Chad Blakley captured the video below of the aurora borealis in Sweden on Tuesday.

The colorful view of these Northern lights is caused by the sun’s massive coronal mass ejection, which hit Earth’s magnetic field and triggered brightly visible auroras.

Monday’s solar storm was an M8.7 class flare. It included a burst of fast moving, highly energetic protons. Experts called it the biggest solar storm in eight years.
