How Tom Holland Got Ripped For Spider-Man Role

Tom Holland, the new Spider-Man star, is best known for acting in the stage version of Billy Elliot and starring in the 2012 disaster flick, “The Impossible.”

However, all of these changed when the British actor got a call to appear in “Captain America: Civil War,” putting on the iconic Spider-Man suit to go against Steve Rogers at Tony Stark’s command.

Many Marvel fans thought that the actor did the Peter Parker character justice, and they also agreed that Holland looked prepared for the role. One question that still lingers in everybody’s mind is how he physically transformed into one of the most loved superheroes of all time.

Here are the available details of what Holland does in the gym:

Even before landing the role, the actor was already in great shape and that is primarily due to his background as a dancer. He took up hip-hop lessons at Lynn Paige’s Nifty Feet Dance School in Wimbledon, England, entering class every Saturday.

In 2006 when he turned ten years old, a talent scout approached him and said he should try out for the play “Billy Elliot: The Musical.” Pursuing the suggestion completely changed his life.

Moreover, aside from his dance background, gymnastics helped him get bigger. His outstanding skills in this area were valued as Spider-Man, who is a character that is fond of climbing walls, doing flips and more. Holland gained his gymnastic faculties after a few years of dedication, hard work and risking his neck.

If to visit his Instagram account, one can find countless videos of him quickly flipping through the air like a ninja. In addition to this, the actor also partakes in free running, a form of parkour that takes pride in creative expression. Meaning, just like gymnastics, it involves a lot of acrobatic and many dangerous stunts.

Those mentioned above certainly gave Holland’s transformation a helping hand when it came to playing Spider-Man. During the audition process, the actor had to film himself doing certain scenes as he would start his tapes by somersaulting into the video.

Truly, Holland is the guy currently parading the red suit and it seems as if his acrobatic skills paid off.
