Montana To Reopen Gyms, Museums And Movie Theaters Come May 15

Due to the coronavirus pandemic slowing down, some states in the United States have decided to slowly reopen in order to jump-start the economy again. And through a recent announcement from Gov. Steve Bullock, Montana now joins the fray since it will be reopening fitness studios, gyms, movie theaters and museums come May 15. However, the announcement also said that these businesses will only be allowed to do so if they adhere to stricter guidelines, as well as follow heightened sanitation requirements.

The May 15 reopening date has been chosen in order to fulfill the requests of local authorities to give them proper time to prepare their businesses first and make sure they can follow the guidelines.

Under these updated guidelines, gyms, fitness studios and pools in gyms can reopen at 50 percent capacity, all the while following new guidelines such as requiring the staff to sanitize areas that are frequently touched. Workers should also be trained on symptoms and hand-washing techniques. Hand sanitizers must also be available for use and both employees and guests should be wearing masks as much as possible. In addition, social distancing should be observed as well.

Gym people are also allowed to only operate at half-capacity as well since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that pool water that’s properly maintained can inactivate the coronavirus. Nontactile museums and movie theaters will be allowed to operate too, although interactive ones that allow interactions with the displays would stay closed for the time being. Theaters are also expected to increase their cleaning times between showings and performances. Gift shops in museums can operate under 50 percent capacity.

Adjustment of these phases is also at the discretion of the governor and Montana is still under phase one of the Reopening the Big Sky phased approach.
