Worst Sunscreens For Kids And Adults Due To Safety Concerns

Summer is coming and many people are excited to get sun-kissed again. Playing under the sun could be fun with your family and friends, but spending too much time outside could harm you, too.

Overexposure to sunlight could eventually damage the skin and cause a number of health problems, from sunburn to skin cancer. Enter sunscreens that promise to help cut the risk of sun exposure.

But just recently, the medical community found that not all products are effective to protect the skin against ultraviolet rays. Also, a new report by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) shows that many products available in the market contain potentially harmful chemicals.

EWG’s 13th Annual Guide to Sunscreens report highlights nearly half of the beach and sport sunscreens available across the U.S. are actually not allowed for sale in Europe due to poor protection against UVA rays, according to Dr. Axe

Following the report, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration started updating its sunscreen regulations. One proposed rule by the agency focuses on the effects of UVA rays that may lead to skin cancer.

“The new rules would bring significant advances in both effectiveness and safety,” EWG said. “But many big chemical manufacturers and sunscreen companies are lobbying heavily for a much weaker proposal that would likely leave the state of sunscreens in the U.S. largely unchanged.”

Below are the worst sunscreens that both kids and adults should avoid:
