Venezuelan model Aleira Avendaño is no stranger to pushing her body to the limit in the name of beauty. In addition to cosmetic enhancements on her nose, mouth, and butt, Avendaño has also undergone three separate breast augmentations to reach a 34DD.

What's more, despite warnings from doctors, Avendaño has been systematically shaping a 20-inch waistline for the past six years by wearing a corset for 23 hours a day, only taking it off to shower.

“I wash myself and rest for an hour and then I put it on again,” Avendaño explained in an interview with Barcroft TV. “At first, it was terrible. Then I got used to it, and the belt became a necessity. This is the best thing that has happened to me.”

Tight lacing, the practice of wearing a corset to shape the body, is a particularly dangerous way to achieve that coveted hourglass figure. Also known as “corset training,” this drastic body shaping approach has garnered the attention of certain celebrities looking to accentuate their curves. Predictably, experts have warned against wearing a tight corset for extended periods of time, since they say it will ultimately result in internal damage.
