The fervor of our New Year's resolutions may be wearing off, but this doesn't mean our body won't still change.

The World Science Festival has rounded-up the number of visceral (inner) changes the human body goes through each year, from producing pounds of skin to gallons of saliva. Specifically, the body will shed eight pounds of skin and produce 91 gallons of saliva. Of course, fluid isn't the only way to quantify the body’s change.

This year, hair will grow a rough six inches; up to 25 trillion of our cells will die by apoptosis, the result of one or more cells being infected with a virus; and our heart will beat about 35 million times. Pretty incredible, huh?

It's not often we stop to consider everything our body does for us. More often than not, we're consumed by surface-level changes: six-pack abs, toned arms and legs, among other things. Or, we think in order to feel a certain way we have to go to extreme measures. Juice cleanses, for example, promise to flush our bodies of toxins — yet our colon, liver and kidneys already function as a detoxification system. Plus, they let you have pizza.

All we're saying is, credit where credit is due. Take a look at the complete number of changes in the infographic below.
