A teen girl in Michigan can do more than just the impossible feat of licking her elbow — she can also lick her nose, chin, and eye with her abnormally long tongue. Adrianne Lewis, 18, from Twin Lakes hopes to be named a Guinness World Record breaker for her 4-inch-long tongue after being rejected three times in previous years. The teen gained recognition from the Ripley’s Believe It or Not franchise at age 13 and from her fans across the world after a photo of her tongue went viral.

“I didn’t think anything would happen because I sent in things to Guinness and was rejected three times. A few days later I got an email saying, ‘Your tongue is really cool. We’d like to see more.’ They said they’d like to feature me and I love Ripley’s, so it was exciting to be in the books,” Lewis told Barcroft TV.

The teen says she believes her extremely long tongue may be inherited or from stretching it out during childhood. She says: “My mum, grandmother, and my great grandfather all had very long tongues. In elementary school, I was made fun of a lot — I would just flick my tongue in bullies' faces and freak them out."

Lewis has capitalized on her unique trait by showcasing her tricks on her YouTube channel “Adrianne Lewis.” She started to make more videos about her tongue two years ago and now has garnered 814 subscribers. The teen has received both positive and negative global attention from people in Colorado to Africa.

“I delete a lot of the bad comments and try to keep it as clean as possible,” Lewis says about the feedback. “People have accused me of editing my videos and have said that my tongue’s not real.” The teen’s boyfriend, Tim Hegedus, 19, is also bothered by the comments but tells viewers to “Just appreciate the person that’s attached to the tongue. That’s all I have to say.”

Lewis expects to beat the current holder for the world’s longest tongue, 24-year-old Nick Stoeberl, at 3.9 inches. The artist and comedian’s tongue has been verified to be 3.9 inches from its tip to the middle of the closed top lip, and is featured in the new Guinness World Records 2015 book. “I’m not only able to lick my nose, but also my elbow!” Stoeberl proudly told Guinness World Records.

Stoeberl has some stiff competition from Lewis, who does that and so much more.
