Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of The Dr. Oz Show, has been forced to weather the proverbial media s--- storm after fellow Columbia faculty members called for his job over a “lack of integrity” back in April. Oz sat down with Fox & Friends’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck to discuss his “big mistake” and how he regrets using “laudatory terms” for certain weight loss supplements.

“I wish I’d never used the laudatory terms I used for weight loss supplements,” Oz said. “That was the big mistake I think we all acknowledge. I stopped doing that a long time ago, over a year ago.”

Oz, who recently celebrated the 1,000th episode of The Dr. Oz Show, was brought before the U.S. Senate last year due to the colorful language he had used while describing weight loss supplements. He explained that endorsing “miracle” weight loss products as such was a blunder on his part.

“I never wanted my messages to be hijacked by marketers on the web that are stealing my name and likeness and trying to sell you products. I realize there’s a lot of fraud in the products themselves … and the research behind it was often fraudulent. But I, in general, get it right.”
