The natural beauty trend has boomed in popularity as people have opted to ditch shaving, makeup and even washing their hair. Indiana woman and Instagram blogger Morgan Mikenas is in the spotlight for giving up shaving for the past year.

In a video shared on YouTube, Mikenas explains the reason she’s ditched the razors: “I guess my number one reason that i stopped is it just takes so much time,” she says.

Mikenas goes on to state that she’s not trying to force her own views about shaving on anyone.

“ I’m not just trying to make all of humanity stop shaving their armpits and leg hair anymore,” she states. “I just want to inspire others and what works for you; what makes you feel the most comfortable.”

She later reveals that as a child, kids made fun of her hairy legs on the playground. In a fit of tears, she begged her mother to teach her how to shave, which she proceeded to do for most of her life.

Now, she works in childcare and has once again experienced the raw honesty from children.

“Ew, omg, you look like a man!” she recalls them saying after seeing her legs. “Ew, ew, you didn’t shave?” they’ll ask Mikenas.

She was shocked at the reactions from the kids who are in kindergarten, first grade and second grade. “What does that say if this is how these kids are being taught?” she asks.

“I’ve even seen kids in third grade that shaved their legs,” she says.

The fitness blogger also posts photos of her body hair on Instagram to inspire self acceptance.

In a post from March 4, Mikenas shares a photo showing her leg hair with an inspirational caption urging people to accept themselves, flaws and all.

It reads, “Imagine if everyone just decided that today was the day they loved themselves and embraced every part of themselves. Accepting and loving your body and your "flaws" because you know they are what makes you who you are. If you are focused on being true to yourself in every moment, you are less concerned what others think, which will lead to peace of mind. When you have nothing to hide and you can freely be yourself, there is a profound peace/confidence you will emanate to the world that will inspire others.”

In another post showing off her armpit hair, Mikenas writes, “ It's just nice to embrace the natural beauty that you are.. the beauty that's on the inside AND the outside☺_ What is beauty anyway? To me... it's to be beautiful before someone else told you what beautiful is supposed to be. Just as you are, you are beautiful.”

The photo received more than 3,300 likes and with many comments of support. One reads, “Wonderful. Better with hair the way nature intended. I despise the whole hair removal industry!”

Mikenas echoes this sentiment in her YouTube video, saying, “Why would i remove something that mother nature put on our bodies and intended for us to have?”

Currently, the YouTube video has more than one million views since being posted last month.
