Women are not happy with presidential candidate Donald Trump. Following last week’s GOP debate, Trump seemed to suggest host Megyn Kelly, whose questioning he didn’t particularly like, was on her period. He said, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”

The ambiguous “wherever” set people off, both women and men (some of which were Trump’s opponents) accusing the candidate of reinforcing an age-old idea that women don’t belong in politics because their actions are heavily influenced by their menstrual cycle — an unscientific idea, by the way. Trump’s comments got him disinvited from a major conservative event held this past Saturday, and on Sunday, when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked him by phone if he was sorry, Trump maintained he did nothing wrong.

“I cherish women,” Trump said. “Who would say that? Do you think I’d make a statement like that? Who would make a statement like that? Only a sick person would even think about that.”

One Amber Gordon didn’t buy it. Gordon is the founder and CEO of online community Femsplain, and this past weekend she launched PeriodsAreNotAnInsult.com. Underneath a glittery animated title (in red, of course), Gordon writes, “Are you someone who gets a period? On it now? Great. Let @realDonaldTrump know and keep track of your flow at the same time.” Essentially, she invited women either on or about to get their period to let Trump know it wasn’t an insult, and that if Kelly had been on her period — not that it warranted comment — it wouldn't have interfered with her job.

So it's safe to say Trump's Twitter mentions have seen a lot tampons these last few days.

With several media outlets covering the many things women and men have tweeted, Gordon tweeted herself that "this has been the best menstruation week of my life."
