Actor Larry Hagman, - who is best known for his role as the villainous J.R. Ewing on the TV drama Dallas - said he is battling cancer.

The 80-year-old actor did not specify which type of cancer he is battling but said he would be getting treatment while working on TV, reports USA Today.

"I do want everyone to know that it is a very common and treatable form of cancer," the actor said, according to USA Today.

Hagman got a liver transplant in 1995 after admitting that he had been a heavy drinker. He has also discussed in interviews his previous battle with cancer after which he quit smoking.
