The First Lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy revealed Thursday the name of her newborn daughter: Giulia.

Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth on Wednesday after 20 hours of labor at the Clinique de la Muette in Paris, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro.

"I am deeply touched by the many messages of congratulations that I have received since the birth of our daughter Giulia," Bruni said in a post on her website.

Giulia is a name of Italian and Latin origin and means "youthful." Variants of the name are Julia, Juliet and Juliane, among 14 others.

This is the first child for the couple who married in 2008.

Carla and France's President Nicolas Sarkozy said they expressed their "warmest thanks" to all those who sent their kindness after the birth.
