The estranged wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, has been received words from her doctors that any other future treatments of her cancer cannot be productive. This statement was given by the Edwards family. A reliable source tells the CBS News that Elizabeth Edwards is already dying. The source furthers said that Edwards has only got a few weeks or even days to live. Edwards, who is 61 by now, posted a message to her personal Facebook page and said, “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that.”

It has been confirmed by the CBS News that the family of Edwards, which include her husband John, are now assembled with her at their family home in Chapel Hill in North Carolina.

Edwards added further to her previous Facebook post, saying that people have been all aware that she has gathered her strength from her family, friends and her faith and hope to overcome the illness. Furthermore, Edwards wrote that “these graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined."

Edwards is certainly full of emotions on her posts, saying that “there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It’s called being human.” Despite the situation she and her family is facing through right now, she said that living with hope and having a positive outlook in life and the world have contributed into making the days of her life more meaningful and precious than ever. Edwards said that she is grateful of this. She later on added that “it isn't possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know."

Edwards was detected to have breast cancer in November 2004, not long enough after the presidential election where her husband was a vice presidential nominee of the Democratic Party. During the start of her husband John Edward’s campaign, Elizabeth announced that her condition has started to affect even her bones and that her case was considered terminal.

Later on, Elizabeth and John were separated after it has been revealed that John had an affair with a campaign videographer. Elizabeth wrote about her condition and the state of her relationship with her husband in several memoirs, and also included last year’s “Resilience.” Last week, Elizabeth was sent to the hospital and the doctors said that the cancer had already metastasized to her liver, as according to People.com
