Being born en caul, or still inside the amniotic sac, is not only completely safe, it was traditionally seen as a sign of good luck or even supernatural gifts. Today, en caul deliveries remain extremely rare, occurring in one out of every 80,000 births. Facebook user Jasmine Perez recently grabbed a video of the precious moment a baby born inside its amniotic sac finally emerged and took its first breath.

Professional birth photographer Robin Baker not only captured an en caul birth that occurred during the natural delivery of twins, but she also captured the endearing moment during a planned, unassisted delivery at the proud couple’s home. According to Baker, the entire delivery was so quick that the parents delivered both newborns before the medical team even arrived on the scene.
