How do you trim your tummy?

Most adults dream of having a nicely sculpted six-pack abs. However, most people may find it difficult to get this dream especially those who have an overwhelming beer belly, those who have been pregnant before and those who simply eat too much. So how do you trim your tummy to get the desired flat stomach?

There is really no secret formula in getting a flat abs. According to Michael Jensen, MD of the Mayo Clinic, an endocrinology specialist and obesity researcher, there is really no magical formula behind the flat abs. Dr. Jensen added that you do not need specific foods, diet plans and certain types of exercise to have a belly to be envied. A person with an apple-shaped body or that with significantly wide hips and thighs is more likely to lose proportionately more from the abdominal area than any other part of the body. Jensen added that there are 99 percent of people who are likely to lose weight in the abdominal area before anywhere else. Losing weight will then become proportional in all parts of the upper body.

Why is this so? This is because visceral fat or the fat which is tucked inside the waistline is considered as more metabolically active, thus easier to lose as compared to the subcutaneous fat under the skin. This was according to Penny Kris-Etherton, PhD, RD, a researcher of the Penn State.
