The Food and Drug Administration issued 2 food allergy alerts on September 21. The foods were contaminated with products that could cause a potentially life-threatening situation if people with severe allergies eat them unknowingly.

Milk and Eggs

The company GHSW, LLC, has voluntarily recalled their Trader Joe’s Southwest Style Sweet Potato Sauté Bowl. The product contains a dressing that has milk and egg allergens not noted on the label.

Pecans

If you purchased Homestead Creamery chocolate ice cream quarts, dated 5/13/2021, they may contain undeclared pecans. According to the alert, the ice cream was distributed in Virginia and North Carolina in May through retail stores and direct delivery.

The federal government maintains a site, FoodSafety.gov, where you can find information about food safety recalls, including those related to bacterial contamination, like the recent salmonella contamination associated with some peaches and onions.
