Fresh Express has recalled romaine salads with use-by dates from July 8 to 12 for possible contamination with E. coli. The affected packages of Fresh Express Hearts of Romaine salad have an “S” in the product code.

Random sample test by U.S. Food and Drug Administration detected the bacteria in one package from the company from Salinas, California.

The company asked consumers and retailers with the already expired product to discard it. Two months ago, Fresh Express recalled Romaine ready-to-eat salads for possible salmonella contamination.
