Health benefits of peanuts

Most people normally associate eating peanuts as an unhealthy activity (as you will find them in bars and so on and so forth) but this is hardly the case, as there are several advantages that one can obtain from eating peanuts in controlled amounts.

Since peanuts are found almost anywhere and taste good in any form whether salted, spicy, roasted and so on and so forth, they make an easy snack to much whether you are at home or on the move. And so, here is a list of health benefits that one can obtain from eating these peanuts:

Benefit #1: Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease

Since peanuts are a very good source of monounsaturated fats (good fats), this means that they will reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease since they lower the LDL cholesterol levels that transport the cholesterol to the arteries, and which causes this condition in the first place.

Benefit #2: Antioxidants

With the presence of antioxidants in peanuts, one can look forward to a healthier and happier life, as the usual effects of antioxidants extend to neutralizing the free radicals that can harm healthy cells in one’s body.

Benefit #3: Improves gastrointestinal health

With the amount of fiber and water that is present in peanuts, this will not only keep one fit but the latter will strengthen the good bacteria in the stomach so that it can break down the foods that we eat on a daily basis. Eating peanuts in controlled quantities will not only lower the risk of colon cancer but also prevent the formation of gallstones.

Since peanuts also contain a large amount of calcium and Vitamin D, this has positive results for both the teeth and bones. Studies have shown that if one has maintains levels of calcium and Vitamin D before the age of 30, they are least likely to develop osteoporosis and osteopenia at a later stage.
