Pringles is not changing owners quite as fast as expected.

Diamond Foods, Inc, which is buying the brand from Proctor & Gamble, said Wednesday the sale would close about six months later than expected.

Diamond Foods’ board was alerted to a seemingly unrelated accounting issue related to crop payments to walnut growers, which the board’s Audit Committee will investigate.

As a result of the committee’s new focus, the sale will close by June of 2012. The sale was previously set to close in December of 2011.

Diamond owns other brands including Kettle Chips, Emerald snack nuts, Pop Secret popcorn, and Diamond of California nuts.
