Forget belly casts and placenta pills – the next wave of products involving a woman's unborn fetus are ultrasounds you can hold in a cast.

Brought together by Fasotec and the Hiroo Ladies Clinic in Japan, the service, which began on July 30, produces a 3-D model that you can hold.

Using technology called BioTexture, the service turns an ultrasound picture into a model.

The 3-D printer sprays simultaneously two different resins: one transparent for the mother's body, and one in white for the baby.

The service costs $1,250, not including imaging – but the company is trying to work out different pricing plans so that the model can be made even more personalized.
