Suicide is a serious potential consequence of many mental disorders, including depression and schizophrenia. Here's list of 7 warning signs you should watch for in a person with major psychiatric illnesses like schizophrenia and depression.
1) Moodiness: Long-lasting sadness and mood swings can be symptoms of depression, a major risk factor for suicide.
2) Withdrawal: If the person avoids friends or social activities, it could be a warning sign of suicide.
3) Sudden changes in personality: There may be sudden change behavior, or appearance.
4) Dangerous behavior: Dangerous behavior, such as reckless driving, engaging in unsafe sex, and increased use of drugs and/or alcohol might indicate that the person might have made up his/her mind to end the life.
5) Sudden calmness: If a person suddenly becomes calm after a period of depression or moodiness, it can well be a sign suggesting suicide.
6) Recent life crisis: A trauma or a major life crises including the death of a loved one, divorce or break-up of a relationship, diagnosis of a major illness, loss of a job, or serious financial problems might trigger a suicide attempt.
