New York artist, Sally Davies, photographed the McDonalds Happy Meal each day since its purchase as part of her project.

Davies let the popular kids meal sit on her shelf for six months to see “how it fared” as part of ‘The Happy Meal Project’ she carried out.

"I bought the meal on April 10 of this year and brought it home with the express intention of leaving it out to see how it fared," Davies said.

"I chose McDonald's because it was nearest to my house, but the project could have been about any other of the myriad of fast food joints in New York." she added.

The meal didn’t have any smell on day two and even after six months the food looked shiny and had no signs of mould, according to Davies.
