Logan Davidson, a 15-year-old student from Canyon High School in Texas, died after a fist fight with another student turned deadly on Tuesday. New Braunfels Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is currently investigating the incident to decide the appropriate legal action.

“The Comal ISD family is shocked and saddened by the senseless incident earlier this week at Canyon High School, and the subsequent passing of one of the students involved,” Comal Independent School District Superintendent Andrew Kim said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and we respect their privacy during this very difficult time.

The fight that occurred early Tuesday morning caused officials at Canyon High to lock down the campus until the issue was resolved. Emergency responders found Logan unconscious with blood covering his face before he was airlifted to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead Wednesday night.

According to New Braunfels police, Logan received two blows to the head while he was walking out of his classroom and did not have any time to defend himself. It is unclear whether he hit his head on a wall or the floor, which knocked him unconscious.

"This was an assault," New Braunfels police Captain John McDonald told KEN5. "Both of these young men were in the same classroom when the bell rang. And the victim walked out of the classroom where the offender was waiting for him and assaulted him."

A 15-year-old suspect, who has not been named because he is a minor, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily harm. He has been booked into the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.

“We also recognize the teachers and staff at CHS who went above and beyond to help those involved,” Kim added. “Campus and district counselors will be available throughout the week at CHS to assist students and staff [in] process(ing) this shocking and tragic event."
