While there are several lotions, moisturizers and shampoos on the market that promise you glowing skin, long and flowing hair as well as an overall improved appearance. But do these beauty products ultimately live up to their advertising campaigns?

Maybe, but the truth is that there are greater benefits when one opts for herbal remedies that cost a pittance but are twice as effective for general beauty care or even in specific situations.

Strawberries for the face

If you feel that your skin looks tired, and perhaps it is time for a beauty mask, the fruit otherwise known as strawberries can do just the trick. And so, in order to make the paste for the mask, mix cream, four big strawberries and honey to make a thick paste. Apply it on your face and wait for 20 minutes before rinsing it clean.

Ginger-Lemon bath for the skin

If you feel the need for a refreshing bath, a ginger-lemon bath can be an excellent option. First, purchase ingredients in the quantities as mentioned below.

Ingredients: ½ cup lemon zest, 2 tablespoons oatmeal, ¼ cup dried parsley and ¼ cup minced ginger rootMix the ingredients together in a muslin cloth and tie the cloth until it is closed. Drop it into the warm bath.

Ginger is good circulation in the body while parsley is good for the skin. The oatmeal softens the water that is used for the bath while the lemon adds a refreshing flavor to the mix of benefits.

A rinse for those with dark hair

If you feel that you need to take care of your hair (dark) better, then put ingredients such as sage leaves and fresh rosemary in a pot of water. Add a quart of water and slowly bring it to a boil. Cover the mixture with a lid and then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the mixture from the source of heat, strain and cool it. Use the final rinse when washing your hair.
