Daytime sleepiness is a reality that most of us have to deal with, while at work or when attending to our daily chores, which results in people catching power naps that can ruin the sleep cycle that is so important to maintaining good health.

This can also have far-reaching effects in terms of moodiness and also making one feel weaker and slower especially when it comes to tending to their responsibilities.

So, here are a few tips that one can use in order to avoid this annoying issue of daytime sleepiness:

Tip #1: Nighttime sleep is important

You have to get a good amount of sleep at night. There are no two ways about it. While there might be other things to keeping at least eight to nine hours of sleep every night is vital to feeling fresh and invigorated in the morning.

Tip #2: Keep your distractions away from your bedroom

According to most experts, your bedroom should only be reserved for sex and sleep. Watching television, working on your laptop, playing videogames and so on and so forth are an immediate no-no. And if you are in a relationship, have your arguments elsewhere and don’t even think of doing your bills anywhere close to the bedroom. All these things can contribute to a lack of sleep…

Tip #3: Earlier bedtime

The later you fall asleep, the worse you will feel in the morning. So, one should try and get into bed 15 minutes earlier for at least 4 days rather than trying to begin sleeping earlier by at least an hour.

Tip #4: A healthy mealtime

It is not just about what you eat but when you eat as well. When you eat can influence your body cycle (circadian rhythms) when it comes to sleeping and thus it is important for you to stick to recommended timings for each meal. Most of all don’t skip any meals as this will increase one’s fatigue and reduce their ability to meet the day.
