A photo that surfaced on Reddit this past Wednesday shows a Wendy's worker drinking ice cream straight from the fast food restaurant's Frosty machine. The "Wendy's Frosty licker" adds to the list of recent incidents that serve as examples of why fast food chains should be avoided.

The Reddit user who uploaded the picture of the Wendy's Frosty licker to the content-sharing website added the description: "I was going to buy a Frosty from Wendy's until I saw the employee do this."

Some of the other reasons you should consider cooking your own meal:

1. Earlier this month, a disturbing video revealed an oversized rat eating straight off the counter of a Subway sandwich shop.

2. Just two days before the video of Subway's hygienic practices was discovered, a photo exposing a Taco Bell employee licking a stack of taco shells made its way around Facebook.

3. Back in February, similar to the photo taken of the upstanding Taco Bell employee, a worker from Kentucky Fried Chicken was seen licking an entire plate of mashed potatoes.

4. Last year, a Burger King in Ohio fired three employees after a photo showed one of them standing on top of a container of lettuce.

5. One of the first incidents to launch this despicable fad of messing with people's food took place back in 2009 when a video showed Domino's employee smearing mucus and putting cheese used to make the pizza up his nose.

If you're keeping score at home, that's six of the top fast food chains in the United States. It might be time to start preparing your own food.
