Harold Camping, who predicted that the world was going to end on May 21,2011 has said the new day for Rapture is October 21,2011.

Camping, the radio broadcaster who founded Family Radio, has sent out audio messages to his remaining followers on their radio Web site about the new date October 21. The most recent was sent on October 2nd, a representative of the station told the Washington Post.

"We can be sure that the whole world, with the exception of those who are presently saved (the elect), are under the judgment of God, and will be annihilated together with the whole physical world on October 21, 2011, on the last day of the present five months period," says a statement on Family Radio's website in May. "On that day the true believers (the elect) will be raptured. We must remember that only God knows who His elect are that He saved prior to May 21."

Camping,90, initially predicted that believers would be raptured (taken up to Heaven) on May 21, 2011 while the rest of the world would be judged in a day of final destruction.

However nothing happened that day and many of his followers were devastated as they emptied bank accounts and sold or donated their belongings.

Mainstream Christians have distanced from Camping's prophecies and believe nobody can know the actual date of the end.

Camping had also predicted that the world would end in September 1994. When that didn't happen, he said he had miscalculated the biblical dates and corrected his prediction to 2011.
