A man killed eight people in a beauty salon on Wednesday afternoon in the city of Seal Beach in southern California.

A ninth person was in critical condition, the L.A. Times reported.

The alleged gunman who was not identified, was said to be acting alone, police said according to the report.

In a separate report the L.A. Times said the alleged shooter was Scott Dekrai

Eyewitnesses told the publication that the man was targeting his ex-wife and that they were in a custody dispute.

He was arrested a few blocks from Salon Meritage, the business where the shooting took place.

The attack took place along the Pacific Coast Highway around 1:20 p.m.

Six people were declared dead at the scene and two others died at nearby Long Beach Memorial Center.
