Everyone wants a six-pack (and no we’re not talking about beer here) but they don’t understand that one can only get this much-hyped about body part unless they focus solely on diet and exercise. And while some people might consider this unattainable (and drop out as a result); the truth is that in following certain tips, one can actually achieve this in a period of time.

So here is a list of tips that one can follow to get themselves that much desired washboard abs:

Tip #1: Proper diet

A proper diet is a must especially if you want a six pack. Protein drinks and bars, chicken, lean meats, fish, turkey, milk and eggs are good examples of meat whereas one can eat fresh vegetables and starchy carbs such as high fiber cereal, rice, brown rice, potatoes, oatmeal and yams. Most importantly, stay off “junk food”.And in addition to that, if one can eat small meals throughout the day with at least 10 glasses of water, then that should really cover it as well.

Tip #2: Cardio, cardio, cardio

If you have body fat, then no matter how much you work out, there won’t be any improvement since these layers of fat have peeled off so that the abs muscles can be seen. So, remember to perform cardio exercise.

Tip #3: Train your abs at least two to three times a week

Since your abdominals are muscles that need to be treated like any other group, this means that training them every day will not be a good idea as they need to rest after one workout for at least 24 hours. Overtraining will only cause more damage.

Tip #4: Use resistance exercises

There’s no point trying to do 50 plus reps for each set. A better idea would be to use resistance like gravity and your body weight that will increase the amount of work you have to do on your belly. Exercises such as cable crunches, incline sit ups and leg raises are excellent examples of this principle.

Tip #5: Suck in your gut

Another simple trick to get a lean stomach is to suck your stomach in and hold it in for at least 15 to 30 seconds.
