"After trying two other CBD products that did nothing … this was a pleasant surprise." - Mike H., Texas, 6/03/2022

CBGA (cannabigerolic acid) and CBDA (cannabidolic acid) made waves due to findings published by researchers from Oregon State University. Several months later, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem published research on the efficacy of CBDA derivatives for treating obesity.

So are these cannabinoids worth considering?

Due to their sensitivity to heat and light, CBDA and CBGA can be challenging (but not impossible) to find in the market. In this article, we're going to cover the following:

  • What is CBGA?
  • Scientific findings on CBGA
  • What is CBDA?
  • Scientific findings on CBDA
  • How to find the best CBDA + CBGA tincture

Let's begin.

What is CBGA?

CBGA stands for cannabigerolic acid. Found almost exclusively in young plants, many consider it to be the “mother of all cannabinoids” because it is the precursor to most cannabis compounds..

Through a process aided with heat and light called biosynthesis, CBGA can convert to:

  • THCA
  • CBDA
  • CBCA

Israeli scientists Yehiel Gaoni and Raphael Mechoulam first identified CBG in 1964. A few decades later, in 1996, researchers at Kyushu University found that CBDA predominantly biosynthesizes from CBGA.

Scientific Findings on CBGA

It is important to note there is little to no clinical research on the effects of CBGA in living humans. There is, however, in vitro and in silico research available on CBGA. The Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated CBGA products, and they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Here are just some of the current findings on CBGA:

What is CBDA?

CBDA stands for "cannabidolic acid." It is one of the byproducts of CBGA and the direct precursor to CBD. CBDA converts to CBD via decarboxylation. Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group from a molecule.

When you purchase CBD flower, a lot of what you initially get is CBDA. By combusting the flower or heating it, you can decarboxylate it, thus receiving the effects of CBD. However, finding bioavailable CBDA on its own in the hemp market is difficult.

Scientific Findings on CBDA

Much like CBGA, it's important to note that products that contain CBDA products are not meant to diagnose, cure, or treat any medical condition. The findings below are for general information and should not be taken as medical advice.

How To Find the Best CBDA + CBGA Tincture

As mentioned earlier, CBDA and CBGA are rare in the commercial market. However, they are not impossible to find. Several reputable hemp brands carry tinctures that contain these two cannabinoids.

So what should you look for when shopping for a CBDA + CBGA tincture?

Lab Results

You should never purchase any hemp product that does not come with a COA. What is a COA? COA stands for "certificate of analysis." They're third-party lab reports indicating the contents of what you're purchasing and that it's free of contaminants.

Reviews

Don't take their word on it. See what customers are saying about their products. Whether you are purchasing a CBDA + CBGA tincture or any other hemp product, it's always a good idea to check customer reviews to see if the product they're selling is quality.

In-house Customer Support

Sure, just about any company has a customer support team. But too often, it's outsourced personnel who may not have experience with the products. When a hemp company has an in-house customer support team, your questions, concerns, and needs are addressed by those with hands-on experience with your purchased products.
