Wells Fargo decided to cancel its five state pilot program of a $3 monthly fee after receiving customer feedback.

“As we adjust to changes in our business, we will continue to stay attuned to what our customers want,” said Ed Kadletz, head of the bank’s debit and prepaid card business. “This means understanding their needs.”

Many banks have been testing the fees in response to a new regulation limiting the amount they can charge retailers that accept the cards.
