A minivan and a semitrailer truck crashed on an Indiana toll road on Thursday, killing seven people and injuring four, state police told the Chicago Tribune.

The crash on the Indiana East-West Toll Road was closed in both directions at 7:45 p.m. due to the crash at the 103.5 mile marker near Bristol, Indiana.

The road was clear as of 11:38 p.m., according to WSBT-TV.

The van was carrying 10 people and was traveling eastbound, according to WANE. Witnesses said the van may have struck a deer. The van slowed or came to a stop in the travel line and was struck by the semitrailer truck.

All four injured, including the truck driver, were taken to Elkhart General Hospital.
